Flat plan of two page spread

This is my brief flat plan of my double page spread.

Flat plan of contents page

This is a flat plan of my contents page.

#2nd Deconstruction of contents page

This is my second deconstruction of a contents page.

Masthead
The masthead is positioned at the top left corner and it spreads out across the page. The font is big and bold and the colour is white so it stands out against the black background. The title of the magazine is above the mast head on the same line as the date and the magazine website.

Other information
The magazine was issued in march 2011. This is positioned at the top of the page in the middle. The text is mainly placed down the right

Text
There is lots of texts on the page. The text describes what is going on in the magazine and it gives information on which page the information is on. This contents page looks rather messy and un-organised. There is quite a lot of text on this page compared to other contents pages. There isn't a subheading on this page. Just 'CONTENTS' written at the top of the page in large bold white letters.

Font
The font on the page is very different as there is a few different types of fonts used. There is also some italic writing and some normal writing. Some of the writing is black and some is white depending on the back ground of the section. The writing on this page is very boring and is very displeasing to the eye because there is no  colour to it its just black and white.

Images
There is 4 images on the page and 3 of them are very similar. There are just people sitting down playing a gitarre. I suppose this shows the magazine type however its rather boring. The other image is a man drinking something out of a cup. Even with the images it still doesn't give the magazine much colour.

Composition
The layout of the page is very different. It has contents at the top of the page below the magazine name, date and the magazine website. Down the right side of the page is the actual of contents of the magazine. On the right side of the page is the images also with a editors message at the bottom middle of the page.

There is no linguistic features used in this contents page.

Flat plan Front cover

This is my flat plan of my magazine. I have decided that this will be the best layout for my magazine. I think it looks smart and real just like a country magazine.

Mood board

I have put together a mood board with different styles and colours to use for my magazine when I come to creating it.  I choose these certain images from music magazine front covers to show what type of styles and fonts I want on my magazine. I also have used these to represent the colour scheme and layout of my magazine. I want to choose a suttle colour scheme for my magazine because country magazines arent all jazzy and bright in your face. My main colours will be reads and whites.

Survey Results

I handed out a survey to 20 people based on music magazines. I collected the data and placed them into charts on Microsoft Excel and this is what I found.

I first asked the 20 people who took the survey what gender they were. These were my findings.

I then asked the people what age they were.

I asked the people what music genre they enjoyed the most. I found out that pop and RnB were the most popular.

I asked the 20 people how much they are willing to pay for a music magazine. 9 out of the 20 people who took the survey said that they would pay between £1 and £1:99 for a magazine.

I then asked if they listened to music regularly and if they did what type of device did they listen to music on. I found out that listening on a mobile device was most popular.

I asked the 20 people if they were given a free gift in the magazine would they be more likely to buy the magazine. I found out that half the people what took the survey said yes they would be more likely to buy the magazine if they were given a  free gift such as a poster or a CD.

I then asked what was there favourite album of 2012 and their favourite artist of 2012. I found out that Right Place Right Time and Mylo Xylto was the most popular album of the prior year. Then, I found out that the must liked artist of 2012 was Kelly Clarkson.

Although my results don't support a country magazine I have chosen to make one. I believe that a country magazine is a good place to start. Also because pop is a very popular magazine people may like a different style of magazine. I will make it country however it will be up to date with the music news. For instance I could use Taylor Swift as a star in my magazine because she produces country music. I could talk about recient events in her life that have been in the news. This will attract readers to my magazine as well as my celebrity and her story it will help to sell the magazine.

I will make the magazine £1.50. Using my findings I believe that this is a reasonable price to sell my magazine for.

Survey

This Is my magazine survey which I handed out to 20 students.

#2 double page spread deconstruction

This is my second double page spread.

#2 Deconstruction of magazine cover

There is lots of different text and colours on this magazine front cover. The name of the magazine is in white and is very bold. It is very noticeable and has been placed in a great place. The font throughout the cover is very clear and easy to read. The colours a mainly white and yellow or a dark background. This means that the text is easy to identify and to read. The colour scheme for this particular magazine is very dark and gloomy and it doesn't stand out as much as other magazines do.

The body language of  Drake in the photo on the cover is as if he's slouching but looking directly at you. They have done this because the want you to feel like he is looking directly at you when you pick up the magazine. This draws people in because they then feel involved with the magazine.Because he is wearing a black t-shirt the cover then has the main sell  line right across him. This is affective because as they are looking at him readers will clearly see the words "UNSTOPPABLE" written across the front of the cover. This particular sell line will defiantly grab the viewers attention and they will then buy the magazine because they will want to read more about the story.

The framing on the cover is that Drake is right in the centre of the page. This is to ensure that people clearly see him, as he is a popular artist people like him and want to find out any bit of information on him. On the right side of his face you can see some light, this tells me that he is standing opposite to a light which is bounding off his face. This gives us the impression that although he is mysterious he is also gentle and he has lots to tell.

The composition of the cover is that Drake is placed in the centre of the cover. There is yellow and white sell lines around his body and a main sell line right across the bottom of the page. The bar code is placed on the bottom left of the page. The header is placed at the top of the page and it features lots of popular artists such as "Lil Wayne and Kobe" and "Kellis". This has been done because you will see the top of the page and you will also want to know more on these particular people.

Proposal Table

This is my proposal table for my magazine. I have detailed it well because I want it to be clear on what I am doing.

Type of Magazine (fashion, music, etc)
Country music magazine.
Name of Magazine

I will call my music magazine Sound. I have chosen this name because it is a new attractive name for a magazine. It also hasn’t been used before because I wanted my magazine to be new and different from others that have been created before.
Audience (male/female)

My main audience will be females however because my magazine will contain images and articles of new female music stars it may encourage men to buy the magazine as well. The age range for my magazine will be from teenagers to young adults under 30.
Audience (attitudes and interests)

The audience’s attitudes and interests will vary however the main one would be to be different and to not want to follow the crown of pop music magazine followers.
Outlet (where it can be bought from?)
My magazine can be bought from news agents and supermarkets such as Morrison’s and Asda.
Necessary Information

The magazine will be £1.50. It will be able to be subscribed too. The main colours will be red and white because I want to keep it professional and simple.
Selling Point
My main selling point will be the interview on the new country star Natasha.
Theme (article)
The theme will be a country music magazine. The theme of the interview on the singer will be about her tour dates and also her rise to fame in the UK.
Images Front Cover

The image on the front cover will be a close up of Natasha. The girls name I will use is Sarah Thoms. I have used her because she looks very country like and also because she looks very elegant just like what a celebrity on a general magazine cover would look like.
Images Inside

I will use another smaller image on the contents page then I will use a large image on my double page spread.

Initial Ideas

I am going to choose to do a music magazine instead of a TV magazine because I think doing a music magazine for students at college will be a lot easier. Most college srtudents have break between lessons and might not have anything to do. Chosing a music magazine is a good idea because most students have a lot of intrest in all tyoes iof music, whethers its pop or rock or country at some point they will have listened to different types of music. I also have more interest in music magazines rather than TV magazines so I will be able to make a music magazine more easily rather than a TV magazine.

I would want my magazine to be a country related magazine. I thought about making a pop music magazine but I realised that lots of people are creating pop magzines and I believe that making a country magazine will be different and popular with srtudents looking for something different.
In the magazine I will include my own celebrity and also artists such as Taylor Swift.

In my magazine I will feature Tyalor Swift. I watched this concert of hers and it encouraged me to use her as a side line story.
